A 14 year old has excelled in a UK chef finals in front of Britain’s best celebrity chef.

Libby of Priory Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset was chosen for the National final of the ICG aspiring student chef competition.

She was competing alongside 11 other national finalists aged 14-16 from across the UK.

They each had an hour to cook their chosen dish in front of one of Britain’s best chefs, Lesley Waters of ‘Ready Steady Cook’ fame.

Libby performed so well that her recipe has appeared in the ‘Passion for Excellence’ culinary magazine 2023.

And Lesley said that Libby’s dish “was the best chicken pie she’d ever tasted“.

She won a goody bag containing a selection of food products to test, a Teflon pan for the hob and oven and a ‘world of flavours’ pasta machine.

Priory teacher Sharon Boneham said: “Libby did magnificently and had a wonderful day.

“She gained lots of skills from the six judges including James Golding who trained at the Savoy, worked at the ‘Ivy’ and now director of ‘The Pig Group’.”

Principal Angelos Markoutsas said: “Libby has represented this school with flying colours. She has done superbly and we are very proud of her.”

The popular academy is part of the high-achieving The Priory Learning Trust (TPLT).
