By DEXTER, AGE 9, Jill Dando News, St Anne’s Church Academy

Some 29 pupils were trained as Jill Dando reporters today with a twist – a visit of jeffrey the dog and spiderman.

The pupils from St.Anne’s Church Academy at West Wick, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset were being trained in the kind and brilliant style of the BBC news reporter Jill Dando.

Jeffrey the dog also came as he is the Jill Dando News mascot.

Spider-Man was on hand to inspire the pupils. In his blockbuster Hollywood films, Spider-Man is a photojournalist but also is passionate to help people and make the world a better place.

JILL DANDO

Jill Dando News journalists also help make the world a better place, with kindness, humility and positive good news stories.

Jill Dando went to Worle Community School Academy in Weston before becoming the smiling face of Britain for BBC TV.

REAL LIFE JOURNALISM

The pupils wrote their own story in a 40 minute real life news room style exercise – as real-life reporters, editors, and photojournalists just like spiderman. It was like a real life newsroom in newspapers across the world.

They the took a photograph of spiderman inspiring year 1 pupils with the story. Jeffrey loved his time with the reporters.

The pupils’ good news story was then posted onto the worldwide newspaper the Good News Post.

Luke, age 10, said: “I think it was an amazing experience to see the Jill Dando News reporters and especially Jeffrey the Dog.”
