A SECURITY company has bought a new electric scooter for a local bar worker after hers was stolen just before Christmas.
Dakota Security Services donated the new scooter to Gina-Marie Rutter on New Years Day at her work place, Allstars Sports Bar in Weston-super-mare, Somerset.
Gina had her e-scooter stolen from outside a shop in Milton and was devastated so resorted to social media to ask people to keep an eye out as it was her only mode of transportation to work.
Managing director at Dakota Security, Rana Graham (pictured centre) said: “On Boxing Day, we saw a post on Facebook of a girl who had her electric scooter stolen the day before Christmas Eve.
“We recognised the name of the poster as she works at Allstars Sports Bar Weston-super-Mare, one of the venues we cover.
“It hit us all hard as we know she uses this scooter for mobility purposes.”
She said her and the team at Dakota decided to buy her a new one.
“We made the decision that we would help her and ordered her a new scooter. We also had a donation from an anonymous donor.”
On Facebook, Gina-Marie Rutter said: “I can’t thank the guys enough, I still feel like it a dream.
“No one has never done this for me before and it’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for me in my life, so thank you, thank you, thank you so much.”
The scooter was hand delivered to Gina at her workplace by the team at Dakota and the moment was caught on camera.
It was a nice gesture that caught the eyes of Milton councillor Pete McAleer.
He announced on social media that Rana Graham and Dakota Security Services are the recipient of the prestigious ‘January Spotlight Community Award’.
Rana Graham added: “Gina is such a nice person and we knew how much it meant to her, we were very proud to help her out.
“There is so much negativity in the world and helping others like we did years ago can make a huge impact on a person or several people.”
