The day school ‘nan’ met Boris

The ‘grandmother’ of The King Alfred School Academy had a day she would never forget after hugging Boris Johnson.

The potential future Prime Minister visited the high-flying Somerset academy and said thank you to Nadine Garbett for her 43 years service at the school, and a hug and kiss.

Nadine, pictured, started working at the school in 1976 while her children were young and is still serving up drinks, fruit and cakes for students and staff over four decades later.

She has seen all of her six grandchildren go through the school and is known to students and fellow staff members as ‘Nan’.

Nadine said: “I loved meeting Boris. He was a lovely man and had time for everyone at the school.”
