A hotel in Jill Dando’s former town in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset has seen its toilets Platinum-praised by inspectors.

The Cabot Court Hotel, owned by Wetherspoon’s on the seafront, won acclaim for the ‘quality and standard’ of its toilets, scooping platinum in the Loo of the Year Awards.

Inspectors found its lavatories included top décor, were clean and saw good main-tenance.

They also said the rooms had good hand washing and drying equipment.

In the hotel, there are superb quality artwork and portraits including one of Jeffrey Archer, the former Weston resident and author of books that have sold nearly 400 million books.

The Cabot was awarded the third-best prize in the competition which seeks to improve standards of public convenience across the country.

Pub manager Kazi Musfaque, said: “We are delighted with the award. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times and it is great that this has been recog-nised by the inspectors.”

The Loo of the Year Awards 2022 managing director, Becky Wall, said: “The toilets at Cabot Court Hotel have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained.”
