Our teachers raise £240 for Movember!

Teachers at our school have been raising £240 for Movember to boost mental health.

They all teamed at the King Alfred School Academy to raise as much money as they could.

Mr Ward, Mr Bail, Mr Smith, Mr Shepherd, and Mr Walker have all had tremendous fun and helped out with mental health support in the process.

Mr Ward took part as he believes it is important for “teachers to join together and raise as much money as possible.”

He also said: “I feel like it raises awareness for an important cause for men’s mental health and also awareness that it is ok to not be ok.”

Jill Dando News said: “We are all extremely proud of the teachers that took part and look forward to more getting involved next year!”

The month of November was changed by two people – Travis Garone and Luke Slattery.

Movember began in 2011 (for the UK), however Travis and Luke started it officially in 2004;

It has since spread to many countries like Belgium, Canada, Denmark and Norway. Movember is an important event because it raises awareness about men’s mental health.

Every year in November men across the globe grow a moustache in support of this life-changing foundation.

Since launching in 2004, Movember has made over $837 million and they have funded over 1,250 projects in more than 20 countries.

Men’s mental health is an all year round cause and it is important to continue these discussions and support those around us.
