Jacob is thriving after world-class teaching training

By Jill Dando News

Jacob Profitt is now a teacher of geography and sociology at The King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge, Somerset, after a year of training with The Priory Learning Trust.

Jacob completed the year as a School Direct trainee with TPLT last September and immediately started work with the Somerset Academy.

TPLT is now continuing to recruit School Direct trainees for a September 2021 start. Some 38 excellent primary and secondary future teachers are already signed up.

Jacob said: “The School Direct training was comprehensive, exciting and also fun. The year was challenging and gave me experiences and confidence to do the job.

“Taking the course was the best move I have ever made and I thoroughly recommend it.”

It is currently the fourth year that the incredibly successful programme has been training up teachers.

The course is producing top quality home-grown teachers for schools across the area.

TPLT schools include The King Alfred School Academy, Worle Community School Academy, and Priory Community School Academy. There are also St Anne’s Church Academy, Castle Batch School Academy and Pawlett Primary School Academy in the primary sector.

TPLT are seeing exceptional teachers being trained out of careers including law, banking and sport.

Denise Hurr, Head of Training School Alliance at The Priory Learning Trust, said: “Our teacher training programme will equip people to become top-class teachers in a very short period of time.

“Jacob is yet another example of the success of our scheme.”

Neville Coles, CEO of The Priory Learning Trust, said: “Jacob is one of many examples of brilliant and enthusiastic teachers who are being developed and recruited by our training programme.

“Exceptional teaching is a big part of our success across our academies.”
