Ambitious Jack, 14, plans high-flying career as an airline pilot – just years after a former student ended up leading the Red Arrows

The Priory Community School Academy student in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset has spent time with an airline pilot in a cockpit as part of his ambitious career plan.

Jack, 14, is pictured in the cockpit at Gloucester Airport after attending an open day for future Pilots.

He has wanted to be a pilot since the age of 4 and even writes a regular blog about aviation called Fresh Aviation.

This week he told visiting North Somerset councillor Mark Canniford about his ambition.

Josh Fortune himself had a dream to be a pilot while a Priory student, and he ended up achieving it to become the Senior Engineering Officer of the Red Arrows. Josh left the Academy Trust in 1988, but ended up back with the Red Arrows for a flyover on Weston beach.

Mark said: “It was really nice to meet Jack. I encouraged him and wished him all the best on his brilliant goal.”

Principal Angelos Markoutsas said: “Jack is a really lovely student and is clearly already moving towards his ambition as an airline pilot. We will support him all we can in his excellent dream.”
