Eco-minded pupils have picked up huge amount of litter as part of their exciting new after-school club.

Pupils at St Anne’s Church Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset are helping to keep their environment clean in their Well-being and Community club.

They took to the streets of West Wick around their community full of enthusiasm and armed with litter pickers and wearing high-visibility vests.

Principal Emma Hardy Smith said: “We were astonished at the amount of litter we collected. We recognise that we are a full part of our community and pupils relished the opportunity to help.

“The pupils were sending out a message to everyone – “please put your rubbish in the bin so animals don’t get hurt’.

The club previously had seen the pupils make birdfeeders.
