The Rich brothers, Monty Don and Alan Titchmarsh are helping to inspire generations of green-fingered pupils across Britain.

The Rich brothers, following on from Monty and Alan’s TV work for decades, have taken the world of landscape design, horticulture, television and Instagram by storm.

Pupils across the UK benefiting from the wonders of gardening by taking part in gardening clubs, in school time and in flourishing after school clubs.

This week, green-fingered pupils at Pawlett Primary School Academy near Bridgwater in Somerset have been enjoying their outdoor time, emulating the Rich brothers.

They were busy planting daffodils in their freshly weeded gardening beds and sowing carrot seed ready to harvest later in the year.

Principal, Emma Barker said: “The pupils are absolutely loving their time gardening. This work, combined with our thriving Forest School is just fabulous for pupils’ learning as well as their mental health.”

The Rich Brothers Harry and David are gardeners who grew up in Brecon Beacons in rural South Wales. Their parents had a small back garden but the boys had a huge playground of the countryside around their home.

As youngsters they enjoyed helping their dad out with projects in the garden, getting useful early experience of building design.

The Pawlett school site is ideal for outside learning and gardening. The Pawlett school site is in one of Britain’s most picturesque settings near the Mendip Hills once inhabited by King Alfred the Great.

Pupils and staff recently unveiled their stunning new Learning Lodge with hexagonal features and sensory plants – opening up even more opportunities for outside learning.

Their new Learning Lodge supports all subjects including maths, English, religious education, computing, Science and more.

The school, which has a history in the village over 150 years ago, is situated in incredibly stunning grounds with sports pitches, a forest school, adventure playground, and next door to a state-of-the-art community club with a 3G football pitch.

It has its own Jill Dando News Centre for pupils.
