Mark Tidman has taken up the position of Principal at Worle Community School Academy (WCSA) in Worle, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.

Mark has a successful experience of leading in schools across Wales including in Cardiff and Newport.

He has also spent the previous six months as Vice Principal at Priory Community School Academy, which is also part of The Priory Learning Trust.

He is loving every minute of his new role.

He said: “I’m thoroughly enjoying my new role as Principal of Worle Community School Academy.

“I can see already that this is a terrific school with superb hard-working staff and students with a kind and ambitious culture and community.

“It is also excellent to be part of The Priory Learning Trust with a family-feel, high standards and brilliant support.”

CEO of TPLT Nathan Jenkins said: “This is a fabulous appointment and Mark will bring huge experience of leading a range of schools over the years.

“He has massive enthusiasm and expertise which will benefit the students and staff at the school. He has already settled very quickly into the school community.

“We have worked together closely before and he also has experience of TPLT through being at Priory Community School Academy.”

The academy has a high-achieving and caring ethos, aiming to challenge and support to encourage the full potential of every single student.

WCSA was Jill Dando’s former school before becoming the ‘smiling face of Britain’ for BBC TV. It was the first school in Britain to start a Jill Dando News Centre in 2017. There are now over 100 Jill Dando News reporters across many schools in Somerset and in Malawi.
