Superb Shannon, 15, brings pupils and students together for eco action

By Jill Dando News

Superb Shannon, 14, of Priory Community School Academy organised a big eco event between her school and her former school Castle Batch Primary School Academy, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, which her little sister attends.

The enterprising student organised for Debbie Apted, Community Lead from the Plastic-free Weston campaign, to gave a talk to the Eco Committee where Shannon’s little sister Year 2 pupil Zanna is a member.

Shannon then arranged for pupils from both schools to join together to hear Debbie.

They made details for their planned wildlife pond, and heard more top tips on beating plastic pollution.

Debbie said: “I was very impressed that the children volunteer for Eco club and attend during their lunch break once a week.

“They are in the process of building a wildlife pond which is great to hear.

“I was introduced to this eco club by Shannon, a student at Priory after I had done a talk there.

“Shannon thought her sister’s eco club would be interested so a big thank you to Shannon for spotting the opportunity.”
