Some 5000 students and 700 staff will be helping families across Somerset through supporting Foodbank this year.

With the cost of living rising this academic year, The Priory Learning Trust has chosen to support local needs by naming Foodbank as their charity of the year for 2022-2023.

Its 5000 students and 700 staff across all their eight Somerset schools will be fundraising for the charity, across Weston-super-Mare, and Highbridge and Burnham.

Foodbank collection points will go across receptions in every school so students, staff, parents and carers can donate food and other items.

“We are thrilled to announce that all our schools will be uniting to help such a fabulous cause.”

“We are thrilled to announce that all our schools will be uniting to help such a fabulous cause.”

Foodbank Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in the local areas.

Established since 2011, the charity has worked with 150 different agencies. They crucially stayed open throughout the Covid-19 crisis, providing food parcels and support.

Schools in the TPLT are Worle Community School Academy, Priory Community School Academy, The King Alfred School Academy, St Anne’s Church Academy, Castle Batch School Academy,  Pawlett Primary School Academy, West Huntspill Primary Academy and East Huntspill Primary Academy.

It has a highly successful Sixth Form based at The King Alfred School Academy, and also the thriving Little Learners which are nurseries and pre-schools based at their primary schools.

Alongside excellent educational achievements, TPLT places massive emphasis on its civic duty, charity and community work.
