High-flying Catherine Tolley has been chosen to play for the under 18s Junior England squad – and was told the news on her 18th birthday weekend celebrations.
The Burnham-On-Sea teenager from The King Alfred School Academy (TKASA) has ambitions to play the game professionally and plans to study sports coaching at university.
She has played the game for at least six years at school and went on to play for Taunton School and the SW Women’s league.
“I have always enjoyed playing volleyball and it has given me the opportunity to make new friends and gain new skills in the sport.”
TKASA sixth form is one of the highest performing school-based sixth forms in the region.
Teacher Markus Bail said: “Catherine’s attitude and work rate is fantastic. She works incredibly hard and demonstrates fantastic efforts in her Sport Technical course and the PE department are very proud of her achievements in both the Sixth form and Volleyball.”
