The standard was so high that the judges decided to award a ‘Rising Stars’ prize to Voice n Strings (Sophie and Leila) and a ‘Most Impressive Instrumentalist’ prize to bassist Eva.
The competition was adjudicated by Year 11 students Will and Stanley, Ms. Wadley, Mr. Archer and Mr. Houghton. Each band’s performance was filmed and will be posted to the music department’s YouTube channel at a later date.
Head of Music Emma Burlinson said: “Well done to the Antic Aces who clearly have a huge talent. There was a brilliant mix of bands with some terrific performances.”
WCSA has a brilliant music department with lots of opportunities for students to succeed. It has won many awards over the years and has the biggest stage in North Somerset and one of the best in the south west.
The WCSA motto is ‘We Challenge and Support to Achieve’, resulting in students who thrive in all areas. The academy has a high-achieving and caring ethos, aiming to challenge and support to encourage the full potential of every single student.
