Guinness World Records made John Tinniswood, from Southport, the title of World’s Oldest Living Man.
Born on 26th August 1912, in the same year that the Titanic sank, he is the fourth oldest British man in recorded history, 13 months away from becoming the first.
He is also the oldest World War Two veteran, having served in the Royal Army Pay Corps. Every year since he turned one hundred in 2012 until she died, he received a letter from the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was 14 years younger than him.
Guinness World Records recently spoke to John about his astonishing age, hoping to find his secret.
However, apart from his Friday fish and chips, he has no regular diet, and has led a normal life, considering himself to be younger than he is mentally, and ‘lucky’ to be alive.
To him, he is ‘no different to anyone,’ and he doesn’t believe that being the oldest man alive changes anything.
He now has a daughter, four grandchildren, and three great children, and celebrated his birthday with his family and friends at his care home.
