Enthusiastic Hungerford students have smashed reading records in their literacy-boosting Word Wizards scheme.
John O’ Gaunt Year 7 student Libbie Croft became a Word Wizard after beating her own reading target with a 120% increase while student Lillie Whiting broke her record with 104%.
The ‘Word Wizards’ title has been awarded to dozens of students this year already after they showed tremendous progress in the Accelerated Reader scheme.
The scheme helps the students to boost their reading range and age with a variety of tasks and fun quizzes to boost and consolidate understanding.
JOG is a high achieving Academy and places a big emphasis on literacy.
Head of English Nikki Whiting said: “Our students are showing amazing enthusiasm for reading and are deserving their title of Word Wizards. Reading sets students up for a life of success in all fields and we are eager to boost the reading of every single child.”
