Chancellor Philip Hammond this week found £3 billion for Europe, but where is the money for schools? Kids lack hope, and schools led by passionate Heads are in desperate need in so many ways. As usual, the poorest lose out the most.

With productivity down, Britain can boom again by releasing the potential of every young person to compete with other nations.

Yet with schools often crumbling and in crisis, struggling to find excellent teachers, there has been staggering silence from those in power.

Young people are the future. Politicians of all parties need to put them first.
