Unique boathouse library bid backed by Sir Tony Robinson needs £2000

Clevedon School students in Somerset are building a library for the students in a campaign backed by Sir Tony Robinson.

Project Xenia is the student-led plan to see a library formed out of two shipping containers in the shape of a boathouse to further boost literacy and the love of reading.

The library will give students an innovative safe place to read, study, come together and explore their creativity.

Their deadline for reaching £15,000 is soon approaching, and they have just two weeks to raise another £2,000 in order to make their dream a reality.

Project Xenia is so called because the library will embody the Greek Classical Code of hospitality and stories, bringing in Odysseus, the ancient traveller and his quest across the sea.

Head of English Jo Carrington said: “This will be an incredible project for the students and entire community.”
