Top chef wins award after serving up fantastic food for kids

A top chef who left a hotel to serve pupils fantastic excellent health local lunch with a smile has been given an award.

Robert Bateman helps Barton Hill Academy children in Torquay, Devon to tuck into some of Britain’s healthiest school food – all with a wonderful friendly attitude that goes the extra mile.

Now he has been awarded a national Unsung Hero award for his work over many years by Academy chain by Academies Enterprise Trust (AET).

The high-achieving primary school has had pupil outcomes adjudged to be significantly above the national picture in terms of progress over the last few years.

Head Teacher Jane Young said: “This is a throughly deserved award. He produces excellent food, is always cheerful and professional.”
