The Grand Pier and Revo Kitchen & Terrace in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset donated £500 to two mental health charities after a coffee and walnut cake in memory of Jill Dando.
The money will go to support the brilliant mental health charities In Charley’s Memory and Wellspring Counselling in Jill’s hometown of Weston-super-Mare and across Somerset.
The Grand Pier and Revo Kitchen & Terrace previously generously pledged to donate £2 from every cake sold throughout the week to honor Jill's legacy.
People had been remembering the extraordinary person, life and fast-expanding global good news legacy of Jill Dando with a 7-days charity tea and cake marathon - 25 years on since she died back in April.
Jill showed positivity, enthusiasm, authenticity, humility, kindness, empathy and ambition to become the ‘smiling face of Britain’, rising to the very top of the BBC before being killed on 26th April 1999.
Alex Michael, Managing Director of AGM Holdings, said: "We are proud to have contributed to this meaningful cause of mental health in honour of Jill Dando's legacy.
“We hope our donation will make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need."
Dawn Carey, CEO of In Charley's Memory, said: “We are so grateful for the generosity of The Grand Pier and Revo Kitchen & Terrace, as their donation will enable us to further our mission of providing crucial support and resources to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges."
Wendy Griffin, CEO of Wellspring Counselling: "Jill Dando's extraordinary life and legacy have left an indelible mark on our community. I’m sure she would have been a powerful advocate for mental health in these difficult days for so many increasing numbers of people.
“With this support, we can continue to offer and expand essential counseling services and help more people.”
The 25th anniversary week of celebration events were in partnership with the The Priory Learning Trust, the Grand Pier, Revo Kitchen & Terrace, Visit Somerset, Weston-super-Mare FC, the Good News Post, and two mental health charities In Charley’s Memory (ICM) and Wellspring Counselling.
In recent years there has been a massive increase in bad news, large scale addictions to social media and huge rises in adverse mental health conditions.
