On Wednesday, the Axe District Scouts Leaders, who mentor over 1500 young adventurers across the region, gathered in Weston Museum to celebrate their hard work, passion, and service.

The Scouting Association is the world’s, the UK’s, and Somerset’s largest Youth Organization, founded in 1908 by cavalry officer Lord Baden-Powell.

Since then, it has created more than 500 million scouts, and is now stronger than ever.

Attending the event in the Museum was Weston’s Mayor, Cllr. Crockford-Hawley, our recently elected M.P, Dan Aldridge, numerous councillors, the High Sheriff of Somerset, Rob Beckley, and the voice of Weston’s Youth, the Youth Council.

Awards presented included, Awards of service, up to 60 years, as well as many more!

It is important to remember that these deserving citizens are volunteers, giving up their time to help the youth, and not asking for any recognition.

They are the true heroes of a modern society.
