Students, staff, and parents have shared festive cheer at a Christmas light switch on
The King Alfred School Academy held their annual Christmas light switch on, joined by staff, students, parents, and Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor, Lesley Millard.
The Mayor marked the start of Christmas by switching on the school’s Christmas lights in Highbridge, Somerset.
Lesley told our Jill Dando News reporters that she enjoys being a part of the event as it is a time for us to “stop and enjoy Christmas together. You can look at the tree and find a piece of Christmas.”
Emma, Alex, Holly, Leah, Amy, Carson and Freddy sang a host of Christmas hits including Baby it’s Cold Outside and We Wish You a Merry Christmas – enjoyed by staff and students alike.
The annual event brings the community together and helps us to embrace the true values of Christmas: kindness, joy and unity.
The school is part of The Priory Learning Trust and has a thriving Sixth Form.

Jill Dando News was set up in memory of the late journalist Jill Dando, who lived in Somerset and became the best BBC presenter in their history – kind, positive and humble.
