Students share Coronation joy with dementia group

It was wonderful good news as King Charles III became officially the King in his coronation.
Students from Priory Community School Academy (PCSA) in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset visited customers at the Alliance Dementia Day Care Centre in Worle to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III altogether.
Ten students were inspired by the Value Ambassadors at PCSA who were first to visit the Dementia Day Care Centre in March because they volunteered to give back to members of their community.
To prepare for and mark the upcoming coronation of King Charles III on 6th May 2023, students joined guests of the centre in making celebratory crowns, bunting and decorations - all served alongside a rather British tea party featuring tea, cakes and scones!
"Community is at the heart of PCSA so we've created a Social Action Squad to enthuse our amazing students to take up more localised volunteering opportunities and give back to the community," said Sarah O'Gorman, Citizenship Coordinator at PCSA.
Following the event, Day Services Manager, Laura Hayes, said: "Today was brilliant and everyone loved it, what a lovely group of young people that were so kind and respectful to the customers".
Student membership to the Social Action Squad is growing due to positive experiences like this which PCSA hopes will catch on across the region and the country.
