Students’ Christmas delight for elderly

Incredible generous Hungerford students wow delighted elderly residents with a £1000 Christmas spectacular of singing music and food

Year 11 John O Gaunt students hosted dozens of people at their Annual Senior Citizens Christmas Concert.

The wonderful students had raised over £1000 to provide a fantastic evening with a full Christmas Dinner.

It was accompanied by head girl Ceara Fowkes singing three songs, one of which she wrote the previous evening about meeting Santa, which was dedicated this to her brother, Oren.

The visiting elderly also heard from Chloe O’Brien who beautifully sang the solo for the first verse of Away in a Manger.

To cap a fantastic evening, Jon Shatford hosted Bingo with three beautiful hampers as prizes

There was also a raffle and coffee and mince pies, followed by communal carols.

The Mayor and constable were in attendance and gave a lovely tribute to the Year 11’s for hosting the event.

Head of School Corinne Walker said: “I am immensely proud of our Year 11 students and thank all those who attended and helped raise such a large sum of money.

“It does make a difference to residents in our community. This event is a fantastic way to end the year.” http://www.johnogauntschool.co.uk
