For the first time in hundreds of years of British history, five of the youngest Vicars in the UK have been immortalised as bronze statues.

Revd Craig Philbrick of St Paul’s, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset has been selected to be one of five clergy immortalised in bronze honouring young vocations in the priesthood.

Alongside Revd Neil Down, Canon Holly Cross, and Revd Justin Thyme, Revd. Philbrick will soon find himself standing—quite literally—among Britain’s most notable figures in the Chapel at the House of Westminster.

This morning Craig is meeting MP Dan Alrdridge to officially seal the deal. Photo below.

The Lord Bishop of Bath & Wells offered his congratulations, saying:“Craig has been a steadfast servant of the Church, and this recognition is well deserved. Though, I must admit, I never thought I’d see his name mentioned in the same sentence as ‘statue installation at Westminster".

The statue’s unveiling was announced this morning at the House of Parliament, where the MP for Weston-super-Mare, Dan Aldridge added his own thoughts:

“Weston-super-Mare has many attractions, but soon we’ll be able to say that we have a local clergyman preserved in bronze for all eternity. This is a proud moment for Craig—though I imagine he may be slightly concerned about his new permanent resting pose.”

Upon hearing the news, Revd Philbrick reportedly responded with: “I’m deeply honoured. Also slightly terrified. But mostly honoured.”

The statue is set to be installed later this year.

There is no word yet on whether Revd. Philbrick will be required to polish it himself.
