Pupils trained by Nigel Dando as they flock to become Jill Dando Journalists

Dozens of amazing pupils aged 9,10 and 11 have started finding positive and inspirational news again from across the school, community and world.
Pupils at Ashcombe Primary School In Weston-super-Mare, Somerset submitted dozens of applications to become Jill Dando News reporters.
The school began a Jill Dando News Centre just before lockdown, with a couple of visits from Jill’s older brother Nigel, but their plans were thwarted by Covid19.
Now dozens of the pupils have been writing their applications as it resumed again with another training visit from Nigel Dando.
Teacher Hannah said: “We have been amazed at the interest! There is so much excitement at the prospect of finding and writing real-life stories in memory of Jill Dando.”
In Jill Dando news, pupils in primary schools are trained by students from Jill’s former school, Worle Community School Academy (WCSA), part of The Priory Learning Trust.
Jill was murdered in 1999 but after the seeds of good news story finding began at Priory Community School Academy in 2011, WCSA students then set up a Jill Dando News Centre in 2017.
