Pupils relishing reading at excellent school
By Jill Dando News
Pupils at Pawlett Primary School Academy in Somerset are reading dozens of books at school and home and relishing their next one!
The books being read include Egyptian adventure, the Power Gut, and the Double Dork Diaries.
The school is part of The Priory Learning Trust which introduced its Reading Programme to further encourage a love for reading for its 4 to 18 year olds.
Oliver said: “I love reading. It helps you learn new words.”
Ava said: “I like that in reading you can kind of picture the story and use your imagination.”
The Pawlett school site is in one of Britain’s most picturesque settings near the Mendip Hills one inhabited by King Alfred the Great.
Earlier this year pupils and staff unveiled their stunning new Learning Lodge with hexagonal features and sensory plants - opening up even more opportunities for outside learning.
Their new Learning Lodge will support all subjects including maths, English, religious education, computing, Science and more.
The school, which has a history in the village over 150 years ago, is situated in incredibly stunning grounds with sports pitches, a forest school, adventure playground, and next door to a state-of-the-art community club with a 3G football pitch.
It has its own Jill Dando News Centre for pupils.
