Primark's Adaptive Clothing: Fashion for All

By Ellise Hollie-Hayward, Disabilities Correspondent
Clothing can be a real struggle for people with disabilities or delayed fine motor skills, making it difficult to put on or take off certain garments.
This limitation often restricts their clothing choices. However, society is becoming more inclusive, and adaptive clothing is now making it possible for everyone to express themselves through fashion.
One of the UK's popular clothing retailers, Primark, has introduced its new range of "Adaptive Clothing."
The collection features magnetic zips, poppers, and easy-to-grip loops, while trousers have zips on the legs for easier dressing and undressing. Victory Jenkins, the designer behind the line, created these pieces to make clothing more accessible for everyone.
Victory Jenkins, who lives with several gastrointestinal and pain-related conditions, understands the importance of easy-to-wear clothes. On days when she’s less mobile, the stretch and accessibility of these clothes have been life-changing.
Victory hopes these adaptive designs become the norm across the fashion industry, encouraging all brands to create clothing that’s more inclusive and accessible.
"Everyone deserves a choice," she says. "We all dress differently, and we have the right to express ourselves."
Elliot, a model with cerebral palsy, was the first to try the adaptive clothes and couldn’t be happier. He’s especially thrilled that the gilet is the perfect color for his favorite football team—Newcastle United.
Primark has recognized the potential of the adaptive clothing market and is eager to continue expanding the range.
Future collections will be shaped by feedback from customers, as Primark envisions adaptive fashion becoming a regular part of the high street.
These adaptive clothes are now available across the country!
