Popular Teacher Transforms into a Business Leader in Construction
By Education Editor
A popular teacher and international rugby player has transformed into a business leader.
For thousands of students across Bridgwater and Cheddar in Somerset, UK Jake Caulfield, 32, wasn’t just a teacher—he was an inspiration.
As a dedicated Deputy Headteacher and Head of Year at Chilton Trinity School in Bridgwater and The Kings of Wessex Academy in Cheddar, he guided, mentored, and motivated generations of young people, shaping their futures with passion and purpose.
Now, Jake is embarking on an exciting new chapter—swapping the classroom for construction as he co-founds Evolution Developments, a dynamic South West-based construction, maintenance, and development company.
Teaming up with his brother, Josh Caulfield—a professional rugby star with Bristol Bears—Jake is bringing the same leadership, discipline, and drive that defined his teaching career into the world of business.
"Teaching was an incredible journey, and I was privileged to support so many young people in reaching their potential," said Jake, 32.
"Now, I’m ready for a new challenge—building a business that stands for quality, trust, and integrity."
Before stepping into leadership roles in education, Jake first made his mark on the rugby field as an international player.
His journey from elite sport to education and now entrepreneurship is a testament to his ambition and adaptability.
His tenure at Chilton Trinity and Kings of Wessex saw him play a pivotal role in students’ academic and personal growth, earning the respect of colleagues, parents, and the wider community.
At the heart of Evolution Developments is a commitment to excellence, with Jake applying the same principles of teamwork, strategy, and resilience that shaped his success in both sport and education.
"Whether in a classroom, on a rugby pitch, or managing a construction project, leadership is about vision, communication, and trust. That’s exactly what we’re bringing to Evolution Developments."
His brother, Josh Caulfield, 27, who has played for Bristol Bears, London Irish, and England at an international level, is balancing his professional rugby career while co-leading the company.
The brothers also draw on the expertise of their father, a construction industry veteran with over 45 years of experience, making Evolution Developments a true family-run business driven by expertise and ambition.
As they take on this new venture, the Caulfields are determined to make Evolution Developments a trusted name in the South West’s construction sector—delivering high-quality projects that transform homes, businesses, and communities.
