An incredibly popular and successful teacher training program is seeing further rises in demand since COVID-19

The Priory Learning Trust in Somerset is continuing to recruit School Direct trainees for a September 2021 start with 24 excellent primary and secondary future teachers already signed up.

It is currently the fourth year that the incredibly successful program has been training up teachers.

The course is producing top quality home-grown teachers for Worle Community School Academy, Priory Community School Academy, The King Alfred School Academy, St Anne’s Church Academy, Castle Batch School Academy and Pawlett Primary School Academy.

TPLT are seeing exceptional teachers being trained out of careers including law, banking and sport.

Denise Hurr, Head of Training School Alliance at The Priory Learning Trust, said: “We are seeing dozens of exceptional teachers being trained every single year.”

“Since COVID-19 we have seen an increase in the application numbers. Teaching is the best job in the world and we are delighted to see so many people wanting to sign up.”

Jake Caulfield started at Priory Community School Academy this year after training to be a teacher at The King Alfred School Academy, also part of The Priory Learning Trust.

Jake, pictured, is current Head Coach at North Petherton RFU  and has played rugby for England and Ireland, as well as Bath and Ulster.

Jake said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed training to be a teacher at TPLT and they have covered every single element of the teaching profession. I would encourage others with a passion for teaching to take a look – they will not be disappointed.”
