Highflying singer-songwriter inspires students to be kind behind the screen.

You Tube pop star Rich Cottell, 22, who has supported acts such as Olly Murs, The Wanted and Conor Maynard, paid a visit to Worle Community School Academy to discuss online safety and cyber bullying with Year 7 and 8 students.

Rich, whose family member has fallen victim to cyber bullying, performed for the students before speaking to them about keeping safe online.

As an ambassador for an anti-bullying charity, he discussed the potential risks of social media, following up with ways to avoid and tackle problems linked to online bullying. He also spoke about the importance of privacy settings on social media accounts and how to report cyber bullying and posts if pupils feel uncomfortable about them.

WCSA is a brilliant school which also places great emphasis on the happiness and well-being of every student.

Principal Jacqui Scott said, “This school is passionate about mental health and well-being.

“Rich went down very well with our students. It’s so important to encourage safe behaviour online, we are so lucky to have such a brilliant role model visit our school.”
