Partnering with the Ugandan charity God in Action, led by Mandela Salim Buluma, Cohen’s efforts are bringing life-changing support to a community in desperate need.

The initiative began when Cohen encountered Mandela on Clubhouse, a social media platform, during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Mandela shared the plight of 101 children under the care of God in Action, who were facing severe food insecurity due to soaring prices.

Moved by Mandela’s story, Cohen immediately organized a fundraising session, raising £600 overnight to provide food for the children.

This first act of support would be the start of an ongoing partnership, with further efforts resulting in the purchase of a five-acre farm aimed at ensuring long-term sustainability for the community.

Cohen’s involvement has helped the charity secure critical resources, including raising £11,000 to purchase the farm.

Most recently, his advocacy at the Business and Wealth Summit in Devon inspired attendees to raise £7,000 to dig a well that will provide reliable water for the farm year-round.

This well is vital to sustaining crop production and ensuring that the farm can continue to feed the children and fund their education.

Reflecting on the powerful impact of collective action, Cohen said,

“It’s incredible what can happen when people come together with a shared goal of helping others, especially children.
“In just 48 hours, we raised enough money to bring sustainable water to this community, and that’s going to change lives.”

The funds have already begun to make a difference, with the well project underway and the future looking brighter for the children in God in Action’s care.

Mandela expressed his gratitude, emphasizing that the well will not only support farming but will also help the community become more self-sufficient.

In addition to the immediate benefits of food and water security, Cohen and Mandela have set their sights on further transformative projects, including building permanent housing for the children.

The farm continues to serve as a beacon of hope, providing not just sustenance but also the means for economic growth, with plans to expand its impact through the donation of farming equipment, including a tractor from a Dutch company.

Through his work with Mandela and the God in Action charity, Peter Cohen is demonstrating how business leaders and entrepreneurs can use their platforms to make a profound, lasting impact on global communities.

This initiative has not only transformed lives in Uganda but also set an inspiring example for others in the business world to follow.
