A teacher from Weston-Super-Mare is teaming up with locals in Malawi to build Mzimba town’s very first library to promote education and literacy.

“We aim to give the people of Mzimba a beacon of inspiration” says Sarah O’Gorman, fundraiser and founder of Limbikira Foundation (LIFO).

“‘Limbikira’ means ‘we work together’ which is what this community library is all about”.

Launching a special crowdfunding campaign in June, LIFO has raised over 60% of it’s target of £2000.  Sarah has pledged £500 of her own money if the campaign reaches its target by end of June.

To boost donations, she’s been selling special hand-crafted Malawian tote bags in a variety of designs.

Later this month more sports-inspired rewards will be added to a draw to help generate more money!

All the funds raised go directly towards materials and labour to help complete the building and raise the roof of the library - literally!
