Students at Worle Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset received awards for their exceptional work and character.

Some 55 students were congratulated at a glitzy ceremony at the Winter Gardens on Weston seafront.

They were rewarded for brilliant academic achievements, their character and extra special good deeds.

Archie Matthews won the Jack Clark/CJR Award and the Outstanding Contribution to School Life Award.

Ginny Rulli-Gibbs won the The Gill McLorinan Music Achievement Award.

Among dozens of other awards given out, Lexie Churchill achieved the Laboratory Champion of the Year Award.

And Oliver Massey was crowned Jill Dando News journalist of the year.

Principal Jacqui Scott said: “Well done to each and every one of these students. They have been exceptional in so many ways and it was wonderful to be able to celebrate with them and their families.”

The ambitious academy is part of the high-achieving The Priory Learning Trust (TPLT).
