Employees around the world at the London Stock Exchange were given a powerful reminder to prioritise their mental health during a transformative event led by renowned motivational speaker and former TV presenter Pete Cohen.
Known for his dynamic energy and deep-rooted philosophy of intentional living, Pete delivered a stirring speech that left attendees with practical tools to manage stress, cultivate positivity, and take control of their mental wellbeing with intention.
For over two decades, Pete Cohen has been a leading figure in personal development, coaching millions through his appearances on British television and speaking engagements around the world.
His life’s mission is clear: to empower people to not only survive but to thrive by living with purpose.
His message at the London Stock Exchange went down incredibly well.
Recent studies show that staggering 88 percent of UK employees have experienced at least some level of burnout over the last two years.
One third have claimed to suffer from physical and mental exhaustion frequently due to pressures within the workplace, according the research commissioned by LumApps, a leading Employee Experience Platform.
Eight out of ten respondents revealed that a lack of work-life balance was the largest contributor to burnout.
“It’s not just about surviving; it’s about thriving,” Pete told the global audience.
“When you live with intentions, you stop letting life happen to you, and you start taking control of your destiny.”
Pete’s signature mantra, “have IT, want IT, and love IT,” abbreviating his saying ‘Intentional Thinking’ encourages people to cultivate a mindset that turns their goals and dreams into reality.
This philosophy, rooted in intentional thinking, has become a cornerstone for lasting change in the lives of many who have followed his teachings.
The event was a key part of the London Stock Exchange’s ongoing focus on workplace mental health, a theme that has gained increasing importance in the post-pandemic world.
Natasha Odogwe, Head of wellbeing at the London Stock Exchange, spearheaded the initiative.
“Since the pandemic like many companies we've seen higher reports of stress and anxiety.
“I wanted to do something for my colleagues around the world that would inspire them and empower them to prioritise their mental health and wellbeing,” she explained.
“Working for a large financial institution comes with high expectations and pressure, and since the pandemic, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in stress, anxiety, and sickness.
“Pete’s message was exactly what we needed—practical, actionable, and inspiring.”
Natasha went on to highlight the immediate impact Pete’s talk had on attendees.
“One colleague said because of the event, they want to start running again.
“Others have signed up for the gratitude journey, and many now understand how crucial it is to be intentional with their thoughts and actions.
“Hearing Pete speak sparked something inside a lot of people, showing them that they don’t have to be governed by the daily stresses around them.”
Pete’s presentation wasn’t just a motivational boost; it left the audience with a suite of practical tips to integrate mental wellness into their daily routines.
Among the strategies shared were the importance of morning rituals, maintaining gratitude journals, and creating intentional pauses throughout the workday to reflect and reset.
These actionable takeaways resonated deeply with the audience, offering a clear path to manage stress and enhance mental wellbeing in a high-pressure environment.
“The event wasn’t just about hearing something uplifting—it was about changing the way we approach our day-to-day lives,” added Natasha. “Knowing it had such a huge impact on so many individuals and the ripple effect this has now created means it was a success. This is only the beginning.”
Pete’s message of intentionality is poised to continue making waves, not just in the London Stock Exchange, but across industries where mental health and workplace pressure are increasingly becoming priorities.
His belief in the power of intentions, paired with his ability to energise and empower, is helping shift the narrative on mental wellbeing from reactive to proactive.
As Pete Cohen aptly said during his address: “When you live with intentions, you realise that you hold the power to shape your own happiness, health, and success.”
