Inspirational mental health charity expands again near 10th anniversary after helping thousands of people

By Mental Health Correspondent

A beacon of hope for those struggling with mental health issues is preparing to mark a significant milestone.

In Charley's Memory, an inspirational charity born from tragedy, will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year, having touched thousands of lives since its inception.

Founded in the wake of young Charley's tragic suicide in 2014, the charity has grown from a mother's determination to prevent similar losses into a comprehensive support network for the community.

“CEO Dawn Carey said: “In Charley's Memory is here today because Charley is no. and that continues to drive us all to provide the best possible support for young people who have the courage to ask for help."

“The charity's mission extends beyond offering affordable counseling. It aims to make mental health support more accessible, particularly for young adults, and works collaboratively with schools and other organizations to reach those in need.

Through outreach programs, school assemblies, and drop-in sessions, In Charley's Memory is actively working to advance education and awareness about mental health issues.

One of the charity's unique initiatives is its Youth Forum, which recruits young people interested in mental health to become ambassadors and help run projects aimed at improving wellbeing in Somerset and surrounding counties.

As it approaches its decade mark, In Charley's Memory continues to expand its services in response to growing demand.

The charity now collaborates with counselors and student counselors from across Somerset to provide tailored, affordable support without time limitations.

Dawn added: “We're a friendly, local, and open charity that is determined and passionate about making a difference.”

With its commitment to accessibility and community involvement, In Charley's Memory stands as a testament to how tragedy can be transformed into a force for positive change.
