Let’s Celebrate Lives saved in 10 Years of In Charley's Memory
Next year brings the 10-year anniversary of In Charley's Memory, mental health charity helping thousands of people.
To celebrate they will be hosting a ball at the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
Everyone in the office is looking forward to celebrating all of our hard work over the past ten years, helping so many children and young people process and support their mental health.
Counsellors and admin staff both past and present will be in attendance, ticket information will be released on our website soon.
In Charley’s Memory aims to do the following within Somerset and surrounding areas.
- To offer low cost counselling and support to anyone who needs it.
- To make support services to young adults with mental health conditions more accessible.
- To work collaboratively with other organisations to find the best support for the people of our community.
- To support the schools in our community with outreach work.
- To advance the education and knowledge surrounding mental health within learning environments and wider communities; we achieve this by working closely with schools and colleges and through drop in sessions and school assemblies.
- To reach out to young people looking to learn about mental health and recruit them as our Youth Forum and ambassadors; help run exciting projects and programmes designed to improve the wellbeing of the young people of the Somerset and surrounding counties.
In Charley’s Memory is a friendly, local and open charity that is determined and passionate to make a difference. We can help you in lots of ways.
Charley struggled with his mental health throughout his adolescence and in 2014 it all became too much and Charley took his own life.
The impact of Charley's death was felt across the whole community. Charley's mum wanted to raise awareness of what he went through, in the hope it would encourage more young people to talk about their own struggles.
Less than 12 months after Charley's death, with the help and support of Charley's friends, family and the community, In Charley's Memory received official charity status (registration number 1160805).
Since then, due to demand the charity has grown year on year, today we work with Counsellors and Student Counsellors from across Somerset to provide a service, a service that is not limited to time but to what the young person needs and a service that is affordable for all.
In Charley’s Memory is here today because Charley is not, and that is something that will continue to drive us all to provide the best possible support for all the young people that have the courage to ask for help.”
