Kooth Calls on Young People to Get Creative for a Spot on the Kooth Future Council
By Jill Dando News
Kooth Digital Health, the UK's leading digital mental wellbeing platform for young people, announces the launch of "Kooth Future Council," an exciting new initiative aimed at empowering students aged 15-18 across Britain to lead conversations around mental health.
The Council will bring together ten young people, giving them the chance to collaborate with and learn skills from creatives and artists including content creator Luke Vernon, musician and poet Dan Whitlam, and artist Eva Malley.
Students will not only learn from creative talent they admire but also gain valuable vocational skills that can enhance college applications, CVs, or UCAS forms.
To be in with a chance of winning a spot on the Council, Kooth is inviting eligible young people to enter the competition by sharing their creative work which answers the question, ‘How do you overcome negative emotions?’
All levels of creative ability are encouraged to take part and for those wishing to enter, submissions can be in the form of video, artwork, photography, or creative writing.
Those who win a place on the Council will be given access to a series of masterclasses designed to encourage discussions about mental wellbeing through creativity, whilst creating content that will be showcased in mental wellbeing campaigns for young people in 2025.
The masterclasses, taking place both in-person and online, will be run with Kooth alongside creative experts.
Masterclass partners include Luke Vernon, a TikTok content creator famed for his on-street Vox Pops, who will be launching the series of in-person and online sessions; Dan Whitlam, a spoken word poet, actor and rapper who will be sharing insight into his writing process; and Eva Malley, an artist and zine editor and creator who will be sharing top tips on design and illustration.
Luke Vernon, content creator, says of the initiative,
“The Kooth Future Council is an amazing chance for young people to harness their creativity to spark conversations about mental health. As someone who loves being creative, I understand how vital it is for mental wellbeing. I’m excited to work with these inspiring young minds and help them discover unique ways to express their feelings and experiences.”
Alexa Gooder, Head of User Marketing & Engagement at Kooth says,
“At Kooth we’re committed to designing our service with young people for young people. This competition to find our first ever Kooth Future Council encourages young people to use creativity as a means to support their mental wellbeing. Our 10 winners will get to experience a unique learning opportunity—collaborating with business, brand and influencer talent - that could help them stand out from the crowd in future college, Uni or work applications.”
The Kooth Future Council creative competition is open from 23rd September - 15th November, with masterclasses for winners taking place in early 2025.
Young people aged 15 -18 interested in participating can find more information on how to enter at kooth.com/future-council.
