Junior Journalists Join Jill Dando News at the former BBC TV presenter’s former school

By Archie, Esmai, Lillie, and Enid, Jill Dando News Correspondents @ Worle School.

The next generation of Jill Dando New journalists are being trained at her former school Worle School in Weston-super-Mare Somerset.

The new, ambitious Year 7s aged 11 were inspired to join the Jill Dando News Centre after an assembly about the News Team, who they are, and what they do, as well as other after school activities, on their third week at WCSA.

This included the CJR, our amazing eco-club, who do litter picking, gardening, and more for the environment.

Meetings for Jill Dando are every Thursday next to the LRC.

Our first meeting, on 26th September, saw the young journalists typing away at positive news stories with help from the senior reporters.

These stories included: a 200-year-old message in a bottle, a family of sea turtles being saved from a large group of invasive deer and many other positive stories that will bring a smile to your face.

The Jill Dando News Centre is an initiative which started at WCSA, Jill Dando’s old school, to spread positivity across the globe in her memory, encouraging smiles, laughter, and happiness.

The new Year Sevens aim to uphold this legacy, and are proud to be members of the team, with ambitions to go to the White House, Downing Street, and many more places!
