Jubilant celebrations as students receive GCSE results
By Jill Dando News
Year 11 students at Priory Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset celebrated some tremendous GCSE results.
They have showed excellent resilience alongside their hard work and thoroughly deserved their success.
The students were in the first Year 11 cohort to actually sit their exams after two disrupted pandemic years where grades were awarded without formal exams being sat.
Principal Angelos Markoutsas said: “Well done to each and every one of our brilliant students.
“It was wonderful to see so many smiles and happy faces today.
“It has been a very difficult couple of years and the students deserve a massive pat on the back for all their hard work.”
Top performers in the year group included Spencer Bradbury, Georgina Cann, Ben Golding and Alex Mawbey - all of whom achieved all of their grades at either the perfect 9 or 8.
Many of the students will now go on to The King Alfred School Academy Sixth Form in Highbridge, which is one of the best in the country, attracting students from across Somerset and even internationally.
