JDNC Team visit the wonderful Secret World!
By Zoe, 14, Jill Dando News @ TKASA
After having an interview with a helper at the centre, TKASA’s Jill Dando News Centre reporters visited Secret World to see what goes on behind the scenes.
At Secret World they work very hard to help wildlife recover so they can be released back into the wild.
They help animals such as: birds (of all kinds), foxes, badgers, and otters as well as others. There are three stages the animals go through; rescue, rehabilitation and release.
First of all, the animals are rescued and brought back to Secret World. This could be for reasons such as being injured or being separated from their mother.
Then they stay at Secret World whilst they get fed up so that they are strong enough to survive on their own.
Lastly, they are released into the wild where they will hopefully thrive. The Secret World team do a fantastic job in taking care of these vulnerable animals.
George, who works at Secret World said that he likes helping animals because nothing deserves to suffer and that humans are the ones that usually hurt them or destroy their habitats, therefore we should help them.
On our visit, we were shown a Eurasian Owl (70 years old!), a kestrel, an African Grey parrot and lots of peacocks!
