At just 21 years old, Jack Millier has been appointed Chair of Trustees at
In Charley’s Memory (ICM), an award-winning mental health charity based in the South West.

This milestone coincides with the charity’s 10th anniversary year, marking a significant moment in its history.

Jack’s journey with ICM began seven years ago when he started volunteering for the organisation while at King Alfred School in Highbridge. His dedication, leadership skills, and passion for improving mental health support have been evident throughout his time with the charity, earning him the trust of the Board of Trustees to take on this prestigious role.

Jack said: “I’m very excited to have been made Chair of Trustees at In Charley’s Memory. This fantastic charity has been a big part of my life for a few years now, and its work is vital in supporting the mental health of young people and adults across the South West.

“As I take on the role in the year of our tenth anniversary, I look forward to building on the brilliant achievements of the past decade and developing a strategic plan to ensure the charity continues to grow strong in the years ahead.”

Jack’s journey to leadership is rooted in a remarkable background of ambition and achievement.

At 17, he secured a place at the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he studied composition.  The college is renowned for producing stars such as Sir Anthony Hopkins and Ruth Jones, and its rigorous audition process reflects its high standards.

In addition to excelling academically, Jack has consistently given back to the community.  His charity work with ICM has been a significant part of his life, demonstrating his commitment to supporting others and raising awareness about mental health challenges.

Jack’s new role comes at a critical time as the charity celebrates its 10th year.

CEO Dawn Carey said: “I am absolutely delighted that Jack has been appointed chair by the board.  I think Jack’s enthusiasm and attention to detail are strengths Jack has in abundance and has continued to demonstrate in the seven years he has been part of ICM.
“Jack has big boots to fill. Martyn has dutifully steered our organisation during his time.”

Founded in memory of Charley Marks, ICM has spent the past decade offering vital mental health services to young people and adults in the South West.

The charity is dedicated to providing accessible support and raising awareness about mental health, with a focus on creating a lasting impact in the community.
