International Day of Families was a dedicated day for the people living in your home or anyone that you called family.
International Day of Families promoted issues within families and also encouraged togetherness.
In 1994, the United Nations declared the 15th of May as a day to help people understand why families mattered and the struggles they might have.
With every family being unique and with a diverse and accepting society it was even more important to address the problems that many families faced.
The day highlighted the roles inside a family and the significance of having someone to call your family.
The theme of the International Day of Families this year was how climate change interacted and changed families.
As arid countries become hotter, droughts lead to famine if nothing is done.
Many families needed to migrate to another place or even other countries and this posed a major problem, leaving them extremely vulnerable.
This could affect people in other countries that weren't as hot as they may have owned businesses that relied on stable weather.
These jobs may have included fishmongers, farmers or even retail owners.
