Inspirational Clevedon School debating competition winners enjoy VIP trip to Westminster

Clevedon School’s inspirational winners of the North Somerset Schools Parliamentary Debating competition toured Westminster with local MP Liam Fox in celebration of their achievement. 

Hannah Filer, Ruby Mae-Hawkins, Ella Gardiner, and David Bell toured the Houses of Parliament; had lunch with the Deputy Speaker and then attended a live Parliamentary debate in the afternoon.

The incredible students had won three first prize trophies at a prestigious debating competition – for the first time since 1999.

Jo Carrington, Head of English said: “This was such a fantastic experience for our students, especially as they are so interested in politics and how to have voice in today’s world.”

Clevedon School is part of the inspirational Clevedon Learning Trust along with Mary Elton Primary School, Tickenham Church of England Primary School, Yeo Moor Primary School and St Nicholas’ Chantry.
