Thomas, 15, achieves Britain’s best alongside incredible student sweep of Gold, Silver and Bronze maths awards

Incredible students at Worle Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset have been winning Gold, Silver and Bronze in The UK Mathematics Trust awards.
Thomas, 15, achieved a stunning full marks in the Intermediate Challenge competition and will go forward to the prestigious Maclaurin Olympiad.
Out of 700,000 contestants, Thomas was among a wave of Year 9, 10 and 11 students who have been thriving in the maths challenges with many going forward to the UK finals.
Eriks in Year 9 won a Gold Award and will go forward to the Grey Kangaroo competition along with Anna who won a Silver Award.
In Year 10 Sophie won a Silver Award.
And in Year 11 Joshua and Athul joined Thomas to achieve a Gold Medal award. Harry in Year 11 will go forward to the Pink Kangaroo with Joshua and Athul.
The UK Mathematics Trust was founded in 1996 and the aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics.
WCSA has a thriving maths department that stretches students to their best ability and aims to make the subject fun and challenging.
Principal Jacqui Scott said: “We are very proud of the achievements of our exceptional mathematicians and look forward to their future success.”
The WCSA motto is ‘We Challenge and Support to Achieve’, resulting in students who thrive in all areas.
The academy has a high-achieving and caring ethos, aiming to challenge and support to encourage the full potential of every single student.
