Incredible Students Honoured in Oscar-Style Celebration

Students from Worle Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, were celebrated in style at a dazzling awards evening held at the iconic Winter Gardens on Weston seafront.
The glittering ceremony honoured students for their outstanding academic achievements, character, and extraordinary good deeds.
The evening also featured fantastic performances of singing and music by talented students, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Principal’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to School Life, awarded to Emily.
Sophie won the Principal's PROUD award while Joe won the Outstanding Contribution to Music award.
Former student Olivia Finch, 19, now studying medicine at Bristol University, was one of the guest speakers.
Olivia was the first-ever student to join the Jill Dando News Centre at just 11 years old and spoke warmly of her time at the school, praising its transformative impact on her life.
Weston-super-Mare Mayor John Crockford-Hawley presented the coveted Jill Dando Award, which this year was won by Oliver, aged 14, for his exceptional contributions to journalism in memory of former student Jill Dando.
Principal Mark Tidman said: “We are so proud to celebrate each and every one of our students and their incredible achievements. This was a magnificent evening full of fabulous awards, inspiring speeches, and wonderful performances.”
Worle Community School Academy is renowned for its caring ethos and high academic standards, coupled with an excellent range of extracurricular opportunities.
The school is also home to the Jill Dando News Centre, which continues to inspire students to develop journalism and communication skills in honour of its namesake.
The Oscar-style event highlighted the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals and celebrating their successes, leaving students and families with memories to cherish.
