A talented young athlete from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, UK has been recognised for her outstanding achievement after earning a place in the prestigious England Touch Rugby Academy.
Imogen, 13, a student at Worle Community School Academy, has been selected to represent England at the Under-15 level in one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports.
To celebrate her success, she has been awarded the school’s Student of the Week by Headteacher Mark Tidman.
Speaking to Jill Dando News, Imogen shared her love for the sport, saying she enjoys playing because of her “friendly teammates.”
Her achievement comes as England Touch launches its groundbreaking Youth Academy, an innovative program designed to develop the next generation of Touch Rugby talent.
The academy offers world-class coaching and cutting-edge training, including technical skills, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, and nutrition education.
Headteacher Mr Tidman praised Imogen’s dedication:
“We are all over the moon with Imogen and her achievements.
This is a super-fast-growing sport, and she is already getting noticed for her dedication, excellence, and ambition.”
Ben Powell, High Performance Director for England Touch, emphasized the significance of the new academy:
“The Youth Academy represents a huge step forward for Touch in England. It’s not just about preparing players for competitions—it’s about creating opportunities for every young athlete to grow, thrive, and fall in love with the sport.
Our goal is to develop the best players while fostering teamwork, resilience, and a lifelong passion for Touch.”
