Hundreds of students enjoy sports day in searing heat - just days before Olympics begin

The sun shone as Year 7 students at Worle Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset took part in a brilliant sports day to celebrate the end of year.

There were football and other sport matches, running races, the long jump, and a whole host of fun activities.

The academy has outstanding sporting facilities and a huge campus which includes a floodlit 3G pitch.

Principal Jacqui Scott said: “The weather was magnificent as the students took part in a variety of fun events. Despite a difficult year, the students and staff have made the very most of every single opportunity.”

The WCSA motto is ‘We Challenge and Support to Achieve’, resulting in students who thrive in all areas.

The academy has a high-achieving and caring ethos, aiming to challenge and support to encourage the full potential of every single student.
