Generous students raise nearly £2000 for Kenya children

Big hearted students have raised nearly £2,000 for Malanga Primary School in Kenya.
It follows on from a similar event at St Anne’s Church Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset last year which raised over £2000.
When students heard that many of the children who attend Malanga Primary School do not have a school meal at lunchtime because they can’t pay for it, they wanted to do something about it.
Every child completed a sponsored walk of 20 laps of the school.
This year's St Anne’s walk will support a larger farmed area as they are now planting maize and beans and potatoes, and new toilets will be built to replace the old crumbling toilet block.
Principal Emma Hardy-Smith said: “We have been supporting the work of the Kenya Hope charity for a number of years now and we have established a strong link with the school in Malanga in Kenya.
“We are looking to fund another field for the school to grow their own Maize to feed even more children at the school and also other schools in the surrounding area.
“We are also helping to fund the refurbishment of a new toilet block for the school.”
